Hey, I’m Akuoma Omeoga, the Woman behind Ugo Creates. This collection of work is a representation of me. A true manifestation of the unfiltered, unrefined, original, funky things that have lived in my head. You can find my scribbles (writing), visuals (artwork), and pastimes (hobbies) here. It is an unboxing of the gifts of mine that have been kept so tightly wrapped for a lifetime. The publication of this portfolio was made possible by those who pushed me even when I said, “I really don’t think I should” and didn’t listen anyway.

Ugo

Ugo: is a noun in the Igbo language that translates to the English word “Eagle”. In Igbo culture, the Eagle holds great status, as it is seen as a unique and significant creature. Many names have derived from this symbolic treasure.

This portfolio is dedicated to my mother, who spent long nights designing and sewing clothes for me and my sisters, and to my father, who spent every moment with a camera in his hands, capturing the moments and those beautiful outfits. You two are the original copy. The creators and dreamers who taught me that I could be those things too.

Love,

Ugo
